Melchizedek first appears in the Book of Genesis, then in Psalms, then in the Book of Hebrews.Melchizedek comes from two Hebrew words: malak (king, ruler) and sadaq (righteous, just, innocent). For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth part of everything. Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. The first text is historical, the second is prophetic, and the third is theological.
